Summary

As a member of Information Technology, you will assume a meaningful role in sustaining and expanding business intelligence while establishing best practices for data integrations and data warehouse development at Michigan Tech.

You will be responsible for collaborating with the Business System Analysts, Business Intelligence Analysts and campus community to design, develop, implement and support solutions related to the business intelligence initiatives at the University.

As the lead developer for data integrations you will collaborate with programmer/analysts to establish best practices for data integration between systems while cataloging existing/new data integrations.

Responsibilities 

• Create and maintain existing WebFOCUS applications, metadata and system configurations.
• Assist with implementation of University-wide dashboards/data visualizations and operational reporting.
• Responsible for the development/maintenance of data objects (example: views, functions, data mapping).
• Responsible for development/maintenance of data warehouses
• Lead developer for data integration initiatives
• Establish best practices for data integration between systems
• Assist with development of the university data dictionary
• Expected to gain an in-depth understanding of all University data.
• Provide occasional support outside of regular business operating hours including evenings and weekends.
• Work independently and part of a team
• Other duties as assigned
• Commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work. Actively engage in University continuous improvement initiatives.
• Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work.

Required Education, Certifications, Licensures

• Bachelor's degree in management of information systems, computer science, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.

Required Experience

• Demonstrated understanding of data warehouse architecture and experience in data modeling
• Demonstrated professional experience using SQL-based relational databases, database table architecture, and building/maintaining reports
• Experience developing web-based applications
• Experience creating data integrations between cloud based and on-premise systems

Desirable Education and/or Experience

• Experience working in an academic environment.
• Experience using Oracle, Ellucian Banner, and/or Information Builders WebFOCUS.
• Demonstrated professional experience in business intelligence and analytics

• Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
• Ability to understand business requirements and translate the requirements into technical solutions.
