Research Engineer I Keweenaw Research Center (Near Houghton County Airport)
This position will provide support to new and existing sponsored research involving the test and evaluation of ground vehicles and related subsystems. A successful candidate will routinely prepare, conduct, and oversee laboratory and field testing activities for military and commercial sponsors. This position requires an entry- level degree in engineering and a basic background in instrumentation, data acquisition and dynamic measurement techniques.
Head Women's Soccer Coach Main Campus (Houghton, MI)
The Head Women’s Soccer Coach will oversee the direction of the Varsity Soccer Program at the NCAA Division II level. Duties of the position include areas such as recruitment, scheduling, practice/game preparation, budget management, fund raising and promotion. The coach works in a collaborative fashion with the Athletic Department and serves in a leadership role to enhance the internal and external visibility and recognition of the Michigan Tech Women’s Soccer Program.
Senior Office Assistant Main Campus (Houghton, MI)
The Health Research Institute (HRI) at Michigan Technological University seeks to nurture, expand, and accelerate current research and outreach activities at Michigan Tech by establishing a nationally visible research hub, promoting on- and off-campus collaborations and upgrading research infrastructures, creating an environment that enhances the probability of securing external funding, and getting directly involved in community health and education issues by partnering with local health providers. With 59 members from 14 departments across campus, we are a thriving, cooperative research community. In addition to research, the Institute sponsors activities to improve community health, a student journal club, graduate fellowship programs, a faculty mentoring program, and several social and networking events throughout the academic year. The HRI is seeking a Senior Office Assistant to support the HRI Director, Institute Manager, members, and students. Applicants are expected to work independently and as part of a small team. Attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects, and flexibility are essential for the successful performance of this role.

Coordinate and execute tasks related to electrical engineer projects. Project tasks include design, analysis, purchasing and assembly oversight, laboratory and field tests on ground vehicles and related subsystems. Routinely develop electronic systems associated with the aforementioned project tasks. Routinely perform computer system modeling and analysis on ground vehicle parts and systems.
Assistant Research Scientist - Environmental Biotechnology Main Campus (Houghton, MI)
The Great Lakes Research Center (GLRC) at Michigan Technological University (Michigan Tech) seeks to create, expand, and accelerate research activities in environmental biotechnology. As a leading research Institute, the GLRC is a flagship Center of Excellence integrating faculty and professional researchers in multidisciplinary research collaborations to address critical challenges facing society. The Institute provides a full spectrum of research services, currently to more than 70 affiliated researchers from eighteen academic and non-academic units across campus, with annual research expenditures approaching 10M. The GLRC is seeking a research scientist to join our organization and the launch of a new thrust area in environmental biotechnology, including genomic biology, computational biology, systems and synthetic biology, bioenergy, and biosecurity. Ideal candidates will have a PhD in biology, environmental engineering, chemical engineering, or closely related discipline; have education or experience in translational research and/or commercialization; and must be able to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance, which requires United States citizenship.
Campus Architect Main Campus (Houghton, MI)
Overall administration of the University architectural planning, design, and construction projects, including new buildings or renovations. Responsible for managing small in-house design projects and managing consultants and University staff on large projects. Responsible for updating and implementing periodic updates to the Campus Master Plan working with other members of the University Campus Community and outside consultants. Working with the University Sr Administration and other Facility Management peers manage and maintain data on the University building space and condition. Advise and make recommendations to the AVP Facilities Management, the Director of Planning & Construction, and other members of the University community on all aspects of architectural design, construction, life safety, and code compliance in pursuit of the University objectives.
Facilities Coordinator Main Campus (Houghton, MI)
Assist with the oversight of custodial and maintenance services for campus buildings, including providing administrative and technical support for the department. Primary responsibilities will include assisting with staff work assignments, project scheduling, contractor procurement, and the hiring, development, and supervision of custodial and maintenance staff, including full-time and part-time bargaining unit employees, student workers, and temporary employees.
Research Engineer Advanced Power Systems Research Center (Near Houghton County Airport)
Pursue, plan, organize, and conduct research, and development and testing activities with emphasis on advanced mobility and energy topics. Project applications may include vehicle propulsion systems, vehicle controls, connected and autonomous vehicles, alternative energy, etc. Activities may include experimental, analysis, or simulation tasks. Pending a candidates experience level, participate in competitive technical research grant proposals, technical publications and presentations, guide and train undergrad and graduate students.
Public Safety Officer Main Campus (Houghton, MI)
Provide security and police protection for persons and various university buildings and/or property within the university community, by enforcing the laws of the State of Michigan and administrative ordinances. This position is represented by the Police Officer’s Association.
Residence Education Coordinator Main Campus (Houghton, MI)
As a member of the Residence Education and Housing Services team, the Residence Education Coordinator will assume a vital role in the residence life program for the growth of the individual through community living. The Residence Education Coordinator is responsible for providing and supporting student development and leadership, building community, and promoting learning in the residence halls.
