Sr. Administrative Aide Main Campus (Houghton, MI)
This position plays a key operational role within the Residential Living operation, providing leadership, oversight, management, and coordination of the residential access systems for the residential buildings; ensuring a highly accurate and precise operation. In addition, this position will assist the Executive Director of Residential Living and other department leaders in the organization of the department budget and ensure day-to-day financial transactions are efficient and accurate. They will provide oversight over Payroll Management, a high volume of petty cash transactions, and ensure the efficiency and accuracy of financial transactions within the entire Residential Living operation. This position is a champion of collaboration, requiring strong interpersonal skills to partner with the multiple departments (Housing, Residence Education, Dining, Residential Facilities) within the Residential Living auxiliary operation and partner with leadership in ensuring the delivery of a dynamic residential experience for students. This position's responsibilities are critical to the safety and security of the residential community and ensuring the smooth fiscal operations of the department. This position will require individuals to work independently, maintaining high levels of judgment, critical thinking, and a strong attention to detail that prioritizes the safety of residents and the efficiency of our financial operations.

Research Engineer / Scientist I - Environmental Remote Sensing Michigan Tech Research Institute (Ann Arbor, MI)
The Research Scientist I – Remote Sensing position provides support for MTRI programs focused on the development and application of remote sensing and geospatial analysis to solve governmental and societal needs through sponsored research. Knowledge of remote sensing theory and an understanding of remote sensing applications for environmental and/or Earth science research is required. The applicant should be familiar the theory and application of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) for environmental research. The applicant will be expected to help develop proposals for remote sensing research projects that apply their knowledge of sensing and image processing to research questions. The applicant will also be expected to conduct fieldwork in remote environments. Examples of current research areas the Remote Sensing Scientist may support include wildland and prescribed fire mapping and effects assessment, Great Lakes aquatic sensing, invasive species mapping, wetlands assessment, wildland fire danger and emissions mapping, processing and analysis of remote sensing data through custom coding and analysis, and improved geotemporal visualization of complex data and patterns. They will serve as a collaborative spirit, supporting the partners of the Residential Living team (Housing, Residence Education, Residential Facilities, Dining) in their communication efforts and developing an understanding of the operation so they can make referrals to customers as needed. It is critical they are a collaborative partner with the Marketing and Communication Manager to ensure their communications are in sync with the messaging within Residential Living. The AA must have excellent interpersonal communication skills focused on customer service, strong computer skills, approach work processes methodically, and attention to detail. The position is committed to the Residential Living team but will report to the Assistant Director of Housing.

Postdoctoral Scholar, Dissolved Organic Matter Biogeochemistry Main Campus (Houghton, MI)
Michigan Technological University is seeking a postdoctoral research associate to contribute to an interdisciplinary project at the intersection of marine microbial ecology, environmental microbiology, and marine engineering. This project is part of a large interdisciplinary team aimed at developing a system for conversion of marine dissolved organic matter into electricity using microbial fuel cells. We are looking for a postdoctoral research associate to coordinate field and lab efforts to characterize DOM concentration, composition and biodegradability across space and through time in support of remote sensing efforts to determine where and when the developed systems could be deployed. A key objective is to determine how operation of the fuel cell system may be affected by environmental conditions, and reciprocally how the system may affect the marine environment in the deployment area via continuous monitoring during deployments.
